DESCRIPTION OF PIECE

In our modern-day interpretation of Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “The Lady of Shalott,” a young woman secludes herself in her room, getting everything she needs delivered to her door. Her only interactions with the outside world are through the messages she gets from viewers as she streams her daily life online. She is drawn out of her room when she sees a photo of Lancelot, the man of her dreams.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Chainmail Circus is an artist collective from Allston, MA. We are four artists of different disciplines who have come together over our shared love for making unconventional work. Our members include Nicole Bates, an actor/writer, Gina Bates, a community organizer, Natalie Reed, a multi-media artist, and Parker Halliday, a film/video artist. Nicole fell in love with Tennyson’s “The Lady of Shalott” in her Arthurian Lit course in college, and she always wanted to adapt it into a play. She brought the poem to the Chainmail Circus, and now we are so excited to present our take on the poem to the FRINGEPVD audience!
