Imagine your house plants could sing to you about their dreams. “The Greenhouse” is a song cycle in progress, performed recital-style. The setting: a queer party inside a greenhouse. Our characters: ladybugs, algae, big floppy jasmine plants, a lovelorn frog, violets, bad-but-trying-their-best gardeners, rambling mycologists, and lots of queer revelers. More experiential than narrative, these decentralized poetic observations from the world of flora are like growing, amorphous vines, exploring space rather than telling tales. This queer greenhouse revelry can’t happen without you, so wear a flower in your hair and join us and the plants. ABOUT THE ARTIST Water House Collective is committed to building mythologies for the Queer community through daring methodologies in storytelling, performance, and design. We make theater that is lyrical, magical, physical, and immediate. We aim to share our own radical Queer stories and amplify those of our collaborators; we believe that the best personal and performance practices are those which reflect, and on reflecting, change. This production features Water House Collective founders Sy Bedrick, a nonbinary elf creature that has wandered out of a nearby wood, Singer Joy Bedrick, a pink gnome from the winterlands, and Jeremy Geragotelis, a mythic Greek god of yesteryear. |
